This tutorials are geared for New Autodesk Maya Users. I plan to make this a 3 part series. So stick around for the next two parts. I will go over the basics of the user interface in Maya 2022 .I will then proceed to guide you on how to work with projects and how to save files in Maya. After all this we will begin on the making doughnut. I will talk about the various object primitives found in Maya and explain the differences. We will also proceed to create a torus shape form which we will carefully using Maya's modelling tools deform and tweak to create the rough shape of the doughnut. I will talk about how to smoothen the shape then we will proceed to add subdivisions on the 3d models will briefly touch on the sculpting tools in Maya from which we will use to sculpt in some extra realistic details so as to add more realism on the models. After we are done with the modelling I will talk about texturing and adding materials to 3d models will briefly go over the different materials found in Maya and how to manipulate them. After all of this is when we will go over lighting where i will touch on different lights found in Maya and the settings to use when adding them on a scene. We will then conclude with the final step which is rendering a realistic image of the doughnut using the Arnold renderer that comes with Autodesk Maya. I will touch on render resolutions and different render settings like using your CPU vs GPU to render your images.

Requirements

Watch the first part of this tutorial series

Description

This is the second part in this Autodesk Maya basic tutorial for beginners series. If you have not watched the first part then I suggest watching that first and then come to this. Our main objective in this class is for you to have an idea of what proceduralism is and how to work with Mash. We will continue with the 3d model of the doughnut we made in the first part, we will add sprinkles and create more detailed textures for our doughnut model. When your done you should be able to create more appealing and realistic textures for your 3d models.

The goal of this class is for you to have a basic understanding of the Mash Maya's procedural system, also learn how to UV unwrap 3d models and learn how to texture you 3d models using image files. You should be able to make more realistic textures like the ones on the thumbnail for this class by using bump and normal maps to fake detail.

For this to happen you as the student should:

Understand how to work with Mash

Use mash to sprinkle the doughnut with sprinkles

Understand how UV mapping woks in Maya

Demonstrate the ability to correctly texture your 3d models using image files

Have a working knowledge of how to apply bump and normal maps

All of the above Items are skills that will be learned during the class. If you are stuck there is a zip file attached as a resource that contains my completed doughnut that can be helpful to study
